AgenC Core 0.19 is out

Task budgets, faster one-shot runs and sandbox reuse on Linux. 0.19.13 is the current release.

AgenC Core 0.19.0 shipped on October 14. It follows 0.17.0, because 0.18 was never published. Thirteen patch releases came in the days after, and 0.19.13 is the version npm serves today.

Task budgets

Pick how much a task may spend with --budget eco, balanced or max. Inside a session, /budget opens a picker and also takes a custom token cap such as 3m. When an interactive task reaches its budget, AgenC stops at a checkpoint and asks whether to continue, remove the limit or stop. Headless and background work keep hard caps.

Budget accounting is also fixed. Provider usage above an estimate no longer ends a task early while the task's allowance still covers it.

Faster one-shot runs

Eligible non-interactive runs that bypass approvals and the sandbox now pick a fast mode on their own. It batches persistence work at request and completion boundaries. Interactive and resumed runs keep the normal loop.

Sandbox reuse on Linux

Eligible shell commands reuse one session sandbox while the permission policy, environment and working directory still match. Each command still goes through its own admission and cleanup checks.

Light mode by default

Since 0.19.12, new sessions start in Light mode. Light is faster and sends fewer tokens per request. Read-only tool calls and long sessions got faster in every mode too.

To keep the standard mode, start AgenC with --standard or set light_mode = false at the top of ~/.agenc/config.toml. If you rely on MCP tools or sub-agents, use the standard mode for now. The 0.19.12 release notes have the full list.
